About this ministry

Thank you, first responders.

The holidays can be a hard time to be on shift. Through Full & Focused, Dwelling House says thank you to the officers of the Fitchburg Police Department by cooking and delivering home-cooked meals on Thanksgiving and Christmas — a small way to honor the people who keep our community safe.

You can help by preparing food or delivering it. Each shift, plan to prepare food for about 6–8 people. Come for one meal or several — every shift helps.

When we serve.

  • Thanksgiving: Wednesday, Nov 25 — dinner 6–7pm. Thursday, Nov 26 — breakfast 6–7am, lunch 12–1pm, dinner 6–7pm.
  • Christmas: Thursday, Dec 24 — dinner 6–7pm. Friday, Dec 25 — breakfast 6–7am, lunch 12–1pm, dinner 6–7pm.

Times include prep and delivery — you don't need to stay the whole time.

Why the police department?

The holidays can be a challenging time for first responders who work through them to keep our community safe. We want them to feel seen, valued, and supported during the season.

Do I need any special skills?

No. Volunteers of every background and skill level are welcome — if you can cook a dish or drive a delivery, there's a place for you.

Can I give instead of serving?

Absolutely. Financial gifts help cover the cost of the meals. You can give online anytime.
